I like to have a variety of word work sorts and activities for each spelling pattern that we are working on. Here is a packet I created as an exciting way to sort long and short a. These sorts and games were created to meet the needs of all of my students by differentiating the words they are using for each activity. Some of the words follow a simple cvc pattern while others have more complex spelling patterns like digraphs, blends, and vowel teams.
