Okay, so I've been thinking of ways to get my students more involved in their own writing. I usually go around and conference with them, and then we're done! I always wonder if they remember days later the conversations we have about their writing. SOOOOO I decided to come up with a few documents that my students can keep in a binder and refer to daily! They are now in charge of their own learning! Now, when I conference, each student takes out their binder and jots down notes from our conversation. At the end of our conference, the student sets a goal. Later, when I meet with him/her, we revisit each goal. My students love this! It's also a nice tool for me to use during conferences with parents to discuss their child's progress in writing.
I also included helpful writing sheets in the student binder!

It's winding down to the end of the year! Use this fun reading log as a way to motivate your students to continue to read each night. This includes:

3. A reading log sheet for students to write the title, author, minutes they read, date, and parent initial.
4. A fun recipe for a banana split and a cute clip art monkey that allows students to write a goal for how many minutes they plan to read each night.

Double Digit x Single Digit Multiplication
My students are becoming experts at double digit x single digit multiplication. I created this game with a student or two in mind so that they could check their answers independently before turning in their work. Students will choose a gumball machine card and write the problem on their recording sheet. They will solve for the product and then look for the gumball with the matching answer. If they cannot find the gumball with their answer, they know that they must check their work again. This math center would be a great addition to your math workshop! You can click on the picture below to purchase this activity from my Teachers Pay Teachers store for only $2.00!

Mother's Day
Here's a cute freebie! These are Mother's Day coupons! I still remember being in my fourth grade class in elementary school with Mrs. Schultz. She passed out Mother's Day coupons and told us to color, cut, and make coupon books for our moms. I loved this! My mom really loved it! She used up every single coupon! Enjoy!
